A celebration of life for Carolyn Irene Doraska will be held at 2:00 PM at Lake Mary Town Hall on Saturday, September 16, 2023.
Carolyn Irene Doraska was born on September 25, 1939 in Alexandria to her mother, Irene. Irene later married Rufus Lundquist and the family made their home on a farm near Rose City. As an only child, Carolyn greatly enjoyed visits from her Rockford cousins, making many cherished memories. She also enjoyed 4H, and many various community and church programs and events.
During Carolyn’s senior year of high school, she moved to a tiny apartment in town to eliminate the cost of commuting. It was during this time she met Jimmie Doraska. The couple were married October 15, 1957. Together, the they raised their children Sheila, Bill, Brad, and Tris on their homeplace on Lake Mary. They had a wonderful life together, enduring many challenges and enjoying many achievements.
To make ends meet, Carolyn held a few parttime jobs. One year, she went to work as a seasonal worker for Christmas at Fleet Farm and ended up staying for over thirty years, eventually retiring after creating her whole “nother family.”
Carolyn enjoyed many hobbies -- needlework, crafts, famous pickles, mama d's bbq, travelling with Jim and cocktails, to name a few. And while in death she has been reunited with her beloved Jim, she will miss and be missed by the family she leaves behind.
Left to cherish her memory are Sheila (Leigh Ra), William, Bradley, Trista (Kelly), Shawnden (Rachel, Ava and Ben), Nathan (Kinsey), Aaron, Adam (McKinsey, Abell and Alya), Grace, her Fleet Farm family, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parentsparents, her,her beloved husband Jim, and her great-grandson Myka.
