Carolyn Randall Carolyn Randall was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on March 10, 1933, the daughter of Lars and Agnes (Horsenell) Kilen. She graduated from Harding High School in 1950 and began working as a bookkeeper at a bank in St. Paul. She moved to Michigan where she met Jim Randall. The couple was married and moved to St. Paul in 1955. Carolyn worked at the Capitol Plumbing Supply and Jim was a mason specializing in high building repair. The couple?s house burned in St. Paul which led them to move to Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, where they had land. In Balsam Lake Carolyn worked as a Social Worker assistant for Polk County where she performed, among other things, fraud detection and investigation. During her time in Balsam Lake, she was a very active part of the community. She served the Lord at the United Methodist Church through her work as a Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School. She sang in the choir, played the piano and participated in many study groups. Jim died in 1980 and Carolyn continued to live in Balsam Lake until retiring to Alexandria in 1998. Upon arriving in Alexandria Carolyn became involved with the United Methodist Church and was very active in its operation. She enjoyed cross-stitching, canoeing, traveling, and was a licensed pilot. Carolyn died on March 12, 2012, at the Johnson Home Care in Barrett, Minnesota, at the age of 79 years. She is survived by her brother George Kilen of Longview, WA, nephew Ken Kilen of Atherton, CA, niece Karen Kilen of Federal Way, WA, great nephew Alex Kilen of Atherton, CA, and great niece Anna Balzarini of Federal Way, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents Memorial services were held on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Alexandria, Minnesota, with Rev. Jeff Hansen officiating and Gayle Maxwell serving as organist.. Inurnment will be in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
