Carolyn Jean Weiland

April 5, 1941 — October 7, 2024

Alexandria

Carolyn Weiland, of Alexandria, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Knute Nelson Home in Alexandria at the age of 83 after a brave and courageous battle with cancer.

Carolyn Jean Kraemer was born on April 5, 1941, in Osakis, MN to Ted and Grace Kraemer. She was the youngest of four children. Carolyn was baptized and confirmed at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis. She graduated from Osakis High School in 1959. After high school, she went to the cities and worked for a telephone company.

Carolyn was married to Robert Weiland on November 28, 1964, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis, MN. They made their home in Hoffman and later a farm southwest of town. They were blessed with three children. Carolyn went back to work when the youngest started kindergarten. She worked at Wahl Drug in Hoffman until it closed. She then leased the Dew Drop Inn for five years. After that, she went to work at Target and Palmer Industries in Alexandria until she retired. In recent years, they had moved into a townhome in Alexandria, MN, where she lived until recently.

She and Bob spent many Saturday nights playing cards with a group of their friends. After the kids graduated, they took a few trips to Branson, MO, a couple bus trips out to the east coast and at least once a year they would take the family to a hotel and watch the grandkids play and swim. Her grandchildren were most definitely the apple of her eye!

She was always there for her family. Carolyn loved to read, sew, crochet and make any baked goods that were favorites of her grandchildren. Carolyn wasn't one to complain, she was always worried about everyone else.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 2020; her parents and in-laws; sister, Maxine; several brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews.

Left to mourn her loss are her children; Roberta Weiland and Wade (Gail) Weiland of Alexandria, Jill (Darwin) Strand of Montevideo; grandchildren: Tyler, Lauren, Blake (Ruby), Madisen, Jade and Hunter; great-grandchildren: Alexis, Willow, Aurora, Brynlee and Gael; brother, Ronald Kraemer of Osakis and sister, Marvel Sprague of Ham Lake; several nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors.
