Charles Edwin Myrin was born February 21, 1934 in Alexandria, MN, the son of Harry and Mildred (Christopherson) Myrin. He attended school at Garfield, MN. Following his father’s death, when Charles was eight years old, Mildred moved her family to an apartment in downtown St. Paul. Charles continued school in St. Paul.
Charles began work as a plasterer in the Twin Cities. His entire working career was spent as a plasterer and drywall finisher. In 1952, Charles entered the United States Army. He served as a tank mechanic in Japan. Following his discharge from the Army, after two years of service, Charles returned to Minnesota.
On July 28, 1956, Charles was united in marriage to Gloria Gray at Augustana Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. The couple made their home in the Twin Cities and were blessed with four children. Following his retirement Charles and Gloria moved to a home near Garfield, MN; a place that his heart called “Home”.
Charles spent many hours restoring old cars, learning about cars and attending car shows. He loved living on their place on Lake Ida. He took great pride in providing a beautiful setting for family fun and relaxation. Charles loved boating, four wheeling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Charles never sat still for very long; he was always working on his lawn, fixing a car, improving his place and telling Gloria “I got that done today!”. He even provided his family with a lighted skating rink on the lake.
After moving to the Garfield area, Charles continued working part-time with his brother, Roger, doing drywall finishing. Charles was a member of the Lake Ida Association, he served on the Oak Hill Cemetery board and he was a current member of the Painter’s Union Local 386.
