Charles (Chuck) Dale Torrens was born on April 13, 1929, in Glenwood, Minnesota, the only child of Lester and Ogeth (Nelson) Torrens. He attended school in Glenwood, and graduated from the Glenwood High School on June 3, 1947. Chuck enlisted and served as a sergeant in the United States Army, post-WWII, in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged on July 20, 1949.
After his honorable discharge from the Army, Chuck furthered his education at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and received his Masters Degree in Business Management, at the University of Minnesota. Chuck then went on to serve as a bank examiner for the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis for the next 40 years of his life.
On January 10, 1981, Chuck was united in marriage to Marilynn Dougherty in Glenwood, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple moved to Bloomington, MN and then to Champlin, MN. In 1991, they moved to Lake Latoka where they built their home and retired.
Chuck will be remembered by his family, friends and neighbors, as a caring and compassionate man. He and his wife Marilynn, were very active in the Humane Society, and he volunteered his time as a dog obedience instructor. He also enjoyed boating, working in his vegetable garden, and spending time with family and friends.
Chuck died on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. He is survived by his step children: Patricia (James) Ficke of Champlin, MN, Michael (Denise) Dougherty of Glenwood, MN, Dixie (Kenneth) Wersinger of Alexandria, MN; grandchildren: Nathaniel Ficke of Champlin, MN, Luke Dougherty (Lisa Lilliberg) of Duluth, MN, Samuel (Nicole) Dougherty of Duluth, MN, Meagan (Justin) Paumen of Alexandria, MN, Austin Dougherty of Glenwood, MN, Hunter Dougherty of Glenwood, MN, Lisa (Patrick) Odens of Minneapolis, MN, Brandi (Nick) Petermann of Lakeville, MN, Ryan Wersinger of Alexandria, MN, great grandchildren: Amelia, Max, and Alena Dougherty, Braelyn and Chase Paumen; cousin, John (Bev) Torrens, of CA, and beloved dog, Abby.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilynn and his parents.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015, 5-7 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015, 3:00 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery.
