Cheryl Lynne Lamp was born August 13, 1946 in Bismarck to Einar and Vera (GG) Berge. She had the joy of growing up in a large family with 6 siblings Bea, Bud, Sonya, Sandy, Russ and Rick. She was a girl scout and active in her church. When Cheryl was 19, she met her soul mate, Bob on September 4th 1964. They were married 1 year later and were blessed with two children. They moved to St Paul and then lived for a short time in France before settling down in Blaine. After she retired from Spring Lake Park school district they built a lake home in Alexandria where they would summer and then spent winters in San Diego and Florida. On Monday Sept 26th, 2005 Cheryl received the news that she had terminal Endometrial Cancer. Cheryl wrote in her journal, ?Cancer is a journey I never thought I would be taking.? She went to the Mayo clinic believing that would be the best possible place to be seen. The Mayo clinic visit turned out to be devastating, they told her she had 2-4 months to live. Cheryl was stunned and desperate for another option for care; she decided to meet with Dr. Boente at MN Oncology in Edina because it was close to her daughter Vicki?s house. After meeting with Dr. Boente she felt confident he was the right Dr. for her because he was so optimistic about her care and did not focus on the statistics. Cheryl?s courage, strength, perseverance, optimism and hope paired with his, and the support of her loving family kept her alive for 8 years. Dr. Boente called her his miracle patient because she outlived all of his other patients and each Dr.?s visit he would say to her, ?What ever you are doing, just keep doing it.? Cheryl enjoyed making beautiful pieces of jewelry, her quilting group, doing water aerobics, golfing, walking the beaches in Florida and spending time with her family. Cheryl truly believed these last 8 years were a miracle and she felt so blessed to see her grandsons grow from babies to young men. Cheryl died on March 24, 2014 in her home in Alexandria surrounded by her loving family at the age of 67. She is survived by her husband, Bob; daughter, Vicki (Greg); son, Chad (Kari); grandsons, Cole, Dylan, Jax and Fischer; her sisters, Bea, Sonya and Sandy; her brothers Bud, Russ and Rick; and many friends.
