Christine Anderson was born July 9, 1933 in her parents home in Alexandria, the daughter of Richard and Nina (Fritz) Anderson. Christine grew up and attended school in Alexandria. She began work as a waitress at Osterberg?s Caf� and the American Legion. Christine went in search of the big city and found herself with some friends in Rochester, MN. She worked for a time at the Townhouse Supper Club. Christine returned to Alexandria. She was united in marriage to Douglas Madison on August 4, 1966 in Sisseton, SD. The couple made their home in Cumberland, WI where they were blessed with two children, Ron and Doug. Christine worked as a secretary for a chiropractic office and as a nursing assistant at the nursing home. In 1981 Christine and her family returned to Alexandria and made their home on 7th Avenue East near the farm where she was born. She worked as a waitress for Sonny Osterberg at the Fireside Steakhouse in Alexandria. Christine retired when Sonny sold the restaurant in the late 1990?s. Christine was very active as a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. She liked to go bowling and participate in league bowling; she was a very good bowler. She really enjoyed keeping in contact with co-workers from her past and having them over for coffee. She enjoyed having anyone over for coffee; if they couldn?t come over then visiting on the telephone would do just fine. Christine was an excellent cook and baker. Often she cooked without recipes. Everyone looked forward to her lasagna, homemade pizza, lemon bread and lemonade pies. In 1998 Christine moved back to the home farm at 5th and Quincy in Alexandria. She carefully transformed the house and yard into a beautiful garden home. She loved decorating her home as the seasons changed. Gardening for Christine included planting flowers, shrubs and trees; she was very skilled at caring for these plants and placing them in just the right spot. She also liked to feed the birds and fight the squirrels. Christine created a very special place for visiting with friends and family at her home. On Saturday, July 27, 2013 Christine died in the home where she was born; she was eighty years of age. She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Melvin, Eddie and Raymond Anderson. Christine is survived by her sons, Ron Madison and wife, Barb, of Cottonwood, MN and Doug Madison and wife, Emily, of Clarks Grove, MN; stepson, Bruce Madison and wife, Margaret, of Barronett, WI; grandchildren, Shane, Cory, Christian, Justice, Righteous and Faith Madison; step-grandchildren, Brenda Hohweiler and Steven Madison; and step-great grandchildren, Dane, Jordan, Jake and Jeremy. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Reverend Rollen Halvorson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers include Larry ?Mac? McCartney, Jerry Fritz, Jim Bosek, Brian Swanberg, Chris Dahl and Derek Willman. Honorary casket bearers include all of Christine?s grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and also one hour prior to the service at church. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home.
