Clarence Melvin Haabala was born on July 3, 1921, in Moe Township the son of John and Ada (Carlstrom) Haabala. He was baptized and confirmed at the Finnish Apostolic Church. Clarence attended District 5 Country School in Moe Township through the 8th grade. In September of 1942 Clarence enlisted in the United States Army and served his country and was honorably discharged on March 11, 1946. Upon being discharged Clarence returned to the family farm where he helped his brothers and parents farm and helped neighborhood farmers too. After a short time in farming Clarence started in construction working for Simonson Construction. After a few years of working for Simonsons Clarence and his brother, Ray started their own construction crew and did this until his retirement. Clarence enjoyed fishing, sitting in his sauna, and mowing lawn with his cousin, Harold. He was a member of the Brandon American Legion and VFW. Clarence died on Tuesday, May 07, 2013. He is survived by a host of cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents: John & Ada; brothers: Clifford and Ray. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Finnish Apostolic Church in Moe Township.
