Clayton Manfred Erickson was born on April 24, 1941, in Alexandria, Minnesota the son of Manfred and Odella (Olson) Erickson. The family lived in Alexandria where Clay attended school and enjoyed fishing and hunting black birds. He also had an interest in building things. As a boy he started working on go karts which lead to racing cars shortly after marriage.
He was drafted into the United States Navy and was on the USS Guardian and was Honorably Discharged on January 6, 1965. After being discharged he returned to Alexandria where he worked for Bellanca and then for 3M for over thirty years.
On May 9, 1964, Clayton was united in marriage to Cece Way at St. Mary's Church. After their marriage the couple lived in Alexandria and then in Nelson where they raised their four children.
Clayton was a Jack of All Trades and could fix anything. He always had a project going whether it was building a Brush Buggy with no brakes or building stock cars to race, or sail boat that would glide across the ice. He was also very artistic whether it was drawing a picture or making designs for his cars.
Clay will be remembered as a gentle soul who never killed anything in his later years from spiders to mosquitos he would just let them bite him and fly away.
Clayton died on Friday, June 16, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Cecile; children: Michael, Jason (Sara), Kelly Ann Erickson, Christy (Brad) Revering; grandchildren: Zachary, Bryce & Brady Revering, Adley Erickson; sisters: Joyce Lee, Patsy Tomford.
