Cyril Wenner

Cyril ?Sonny? John Henry Wenner was born March 3, 1930 in Mankato, MN to John and Marcella (Miller) Wenner. He graduated from Mankato High School and started working at SM Auto Parts. Sonny served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War from January 1951 to November 1952, with a medical discharge. Sonny returned back to Mankato and resumed his job at SM Auto Parts. He was transferred to Blue Earth in 1958 to manage SM Auto Parts Store, which he later purchased and ran under the name Standard Auto Parts. He sold the store in 1968 and moved to Alexandria, where he was employed by National Bushing until his retirement in 1978. On October 17, 1953 Sonny was united in marriage to Ruth Olsen in Mankato. To this union the couple was blessed with 4 children. Sonny was a member of the American Legion for 60 years and the Eagles. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cards especially whist. Sonny also enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends and loved the staff at Peaceful Bliss. Sonny died on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Peaceful Bliss at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Alexandria; son, Thomas (Kristi) Wenner of Alexandria; daughters, Cindy Wenner of Alexandria, Terri (Steve) Eskra of Alexandria, and Judy Wenner of Kensington; grandchildren, Kallee Hanson, Sheanne (Ryan) Hediger, Dustin (Jamie) Branstner, MaKayla (Adam) Tvrdik, Brittney Muzik; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Tvrdik, Cash Branstner, Maverick Branstner; and sister, Dorothy Voda of Mankato. Sonny is preceded in death by his parents, John and Marcella; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Olsen and Ed Voda. A memorial service will be held 1 PM on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverends Geoffrey Gronewold and David Hinz officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria
