Dale Luvern Kluver, died peacefully surrounded by family at the University of Minnesota Fairview, on August 13th, 2018 at the age of 71.
Dale was born on August 22nd, 1946 in Alexandria, Minnesota to Harlan and Edna Kluver (Peterson). He was baptized and confirmed at the Congregational Church in Alexandria. On December 18th, 1965, Dale was united in marriage to Marlene Wilson, and together they had two children, Jennifer and Steven. They lived in Alexandria, Minnesota until 1968, when they relocated to Forada, Minnesota where they resided until Dales death.
Dale received his GED from Alexandria Technical and Community College in 1968, that year he went to work for Ludkey’s Grocery Wholesale as a delivery truck driver. He continued to work for the company for the next 12 years. In the early 80's Dale and his brother Gary owned and operated K & K Design and Manufacturing building fire trucks. From 1985-1996, he went to work for Alexandria Technical and Community College, as one of the three Training Coordinators in the Fire and Safety department. He specialized and trained individuals in confined space entry and hazardous material safety. He also held an advanced safety certification from the National Safety Council and trained at some of the country's most well-known companies such as: Hormel, General Mills, 3M, IBM, and Boise Cascade. After leaving the Technical College, Dale spent the next several years self-employed through the Minnesota Safety Council as a Safety Training Specialist and Instructor. In 2007-2016 he went to work for Avenia as a safety inspector, traveling throughout Minnesota, North and South Dakota and Iowa. Reluctantly, in 2016 he retired, but still did small training jobs on the side.
Dale was a member of the Forada fire Department for 25 years, and from 1968-1993 he was elected Fire Chief and served in that capacity until 1990. He was an active charter member of the National Safety council and received numerous certifications of achievement and appreciation from the safety community. Dale was passionate about his work, and most of his free time was spent improving his skills and building training aids to better facilitate his training.
He is survived by his wife Marlene Kluver; son, Steven (Joann) Kluver; Grandchildren, Kayla (Jonathon) Reigstad, Ethan (Tess) Favor-Jackson, Wyatt, and Savannah Kluver, and Great Grandchildren Ellarie and Louis; brothers, Gary (Shirley) Kluver, Keith (Jene) Kluver, and Sister Janet (Rick) Simonson
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Edna Kluver; daughter, Jennifer Kluver; Grandparents, Wesley and Ella Kluver, and Sister-in -law, Valarie Winters.
A Celebration of Dale's life will be held at the Forada Fire Hall on Saturday, August 18th. Visitation will start at 1pm with Words of Remembrance beginning at 2pm. Dale will be laid to rest at Hudson Cemetery at a later date.
