Daniel Moore

Daniel Ray Moore was born in Rush City, Minnesota on February 6, 1963 to Robert Leroy Moore and Carol Joyce (Peterson) Moore. Dan’s family moved to Hoffman, Minnesota in 1974 where he later graduated from Hoffman/Kensington High School in 1982. After high school Dan attended Alexandria Technical College for welding. He had two welding jobs before he began working at Continental Manufacturing. In 1987 he met Joan Olson and they were married on September 24, 1988 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria, Minnesota. In 1992 they welcomed their daughter Ashley Marie. In 1996 he was diagnosed with sinus cancer and he had to leave his welding career. He had radiation treatment and went into remission. He worked for Alex irrigation for two years and then got a job at the Marion Building where he worked until February of 2014. In 2011 he was re-diagnosed with cancer, having several surgeries and treatments throughout the last three years.

Daniel enjoyed farming and hunting. He enjoyed taking fishing trips into Canada with his family and going up to Blackduck four-wheeling. He also enjoyed and took much pride in his yard and flower beds at home and work. After looking at multiple house plans, he proudly took part in the designing and building of their new home. He was always thinking of new projects and ideas that would bring him enjoyment in retirement. He was a very special person. No matter what he was going through, he always had a positive attitude and was always there for others. He strived to make sure that everyone around him was happy and did what he could to make that happen. Daniel had a closet comical side to him that he only shared with Joan and Ashley, he loved to make them laugh.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sylvester and Sarah Moore, And Keith and Florence Peterson.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years Joan and daughter Ashley; Parents, Robert and Carol Moore of Barrett, MN; Sisters, Charleen Moore of Sioux Falls, SD, Connie (Geary) Olson of Barrett, MN; Brothers, John (Debbie) Moore of Ingleside, MD., Paul (Cheri) Moore of Hoffman; Mother and Father-in-law, Dennis and Judy Olson of Alexandria, MN; Sister-in-law, Jessica (Ralph) Kunkel of Glencoe, MN; Nieces and nephews, Chad, Luke (Andrea) and Jared Olson, Kurtis, Patrick and Hannah Kunkel, Riley and Sarah Moore. Great Niece, Michaela Olson; Aunt, Elaine (Curtis) Carlson; Many cousins and the many special people who became great friends and a big part of his life over the years.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday October 7, 2014, 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Burial at the Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
