Daniel Quinn

Daniel Jerome Quinn was born in Alexandria, MN on October 11, 1955, to Virgil and Ethel (McNairn) Quinn.  He graduated from Brandon High School in 1973.  After graduation he worked for local farmers and Farmers Elevator of Kensington.

On October 7, 1978, Dan married Lisa Thoennes in Millerville, MN.  To this union the couple was blessed with a son, Derek.  In February, of 1988, Dan met Peggy Okerlund and began a new chapter in his life with his son, Derek and her children for almost 30 years making new memories.  Dan spent years of his life as an over the road truck driver.  On his time off, Dan enjoyed watching Nascar, and spending time outdoors, hunting or looking for the big walleye at an area lake, cutting wood, doing yardwork, and gardening.  He was known to always have a bonfire going in his backyard and loved to grill.

Dan passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family in Brandon at the age of 62.  He is preceded in death by his father, Virgil Quinn.  He is survived by his mother, Ethel Nylander of Brandon, son, Derek (Cassandra) Quinn of Millerville; grandchildren, Brooke, Aja, Kira, and Bentley; significant other, Peggy Okerlund of Brandon; and her children, Lisa (Kevin) Behrens of Brandon and their children, Lauren, Trent, Quynn and Ayden; Skip (Erin) Okerlund of Brandon and their children, Tasmine and Carrigan; Jamie Okerlund of Evansville and his children, Nathaniel and Riley; sisters, Donna Mercer of Benson, and Judith Nylander of Minneapolis; brothers, Bill (Susie) Quinn of Erdal, Wayne (Rosanne) Nylander of Big Lake, Ralph Nylander of North Dakota, and Jim Nylander of Brandon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2018, from 5-8 PM with a Celebration of Life Service at 6 PM in the Fellowship Hall at Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon.
