Daniel Reese

Daniel Owen Reese was born on November 23, 1964, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Roger and Betty (Hein) Reese. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Minneapolis. In 1966, the family moved to Alexandria. Daniel was confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1983. Daniel enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was assigned duties on the U.S.S. Shreveport, U.S.S. Iowa, and U.S.S. Anzio. He served on the U.S.S. Anzio when it was brought in commission making him a "Plank Owner". Daniel served his country in the Navy for 12 years.
On September 12, 1987, Daniel was united in marriage to Pam Wink in Osakis, Minnesota. The couple made their home wherever the Navy took Daniel from Norfolk, VA to Slidell, LA. After Daniel's honorable discharge the couple made their home in Richmond, MN, where Daniel worked as an auto mechanic. In 1999, the couple was blessed with a daughter, Amanda. The family then moved to Alexandria in 2001, where Daniel continued to work as an auto mechanic. In 2004, they were blessed with a son, Jordan. After Jordan's birth Daniel decided to go back to school. He attended Alexandria Technical College for marine and small engine mechanic.. After receiving his diploma, he worked as a small engine mechanic at various places, with the last few years working at Boomerang Sports in Alexandria.
Daniel enjoyed hunting, and was excited to witness and be with his daughter, Amanda as she shot her first deer this fall with an amazing shot. He also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors; helping his son do his go-carting, trap shooting with his children. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Daniel died suddenly on Friday, March 17, 2017, at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria at the age of 52. He is survived by his wife, Pam Reese; daughter, Amanda Reese; son, Jordan Reese; mother, Betty Reese of Alexandria; sister, Deanne (Joe Liljedahl) Reese of Montrose, and their children, Peter, Ariana and Noah Liljedahl; parents-in-law, Larry and Wilma Wink of Osakis; sisters-in-law, Paula (Joe) Baggenstass of Albany and Denise (Joel) Runge of Alexandria; brother-in-law, Glen (Belinda) Wink of Alexandria; Pam's nieces and nephews; many aunts; uncles; and cousins. Daniel is preceded in death by his father, Roger Reese; and aunts and uncles.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend Tim Schiller officiating. Visitation will start at 9:30 AM, prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Military Honors will be provided the U.S. Navy Honor Guard, Alexandria American Legion Post 87, Alexandria VFW Post 936, and VVA Rifle Squad Chapter 223.
