Daniel Tvrdik

Daniel M. Tvrdik Daniel Mathew Tvrdik was born on July 26, 1917 in Lake Mary Township, Douglas County, Minnesota to Joseph and Antonia (Dynda) Tvrdik. He attended District 13 in Lake Mary Township through the eighth grade. Daniel worked on the farm with his father and bought his own farm in 1940 where he and his brother, Eugene lived until Daniel got married. Daniel was united in marriage to Evelyn Brezina on December 11, 1940 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. To this union they where blessed with six children. The family farmed throughout their life with Daniel retiring in 1982, but has continued to help his sons farm. Daniel belonged to the Eagles Lodge in Alexandria. He enjoyed visiting with people, reading western books, farming, and working with Draft Horses. Daniel died on Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria at the age of 91. He is survived by wife, Evelyn; sons, Dale (Lynn) Tvrdik, Loren (Nadine) Tvrdik, Leslie Tvrdik, Norman (Susan) Tvrdik; daughters, Bernice (Donald) Trousil and Ruth (Raymond) Willett; grandsons, Frank (Lori) Trousil, Matthew (Kelly) Lurken-Tvrdik, Andrew Tvrdik, Timothy Tvrdik and Gregory Tvrdik; granddaughters, Laurie Trousil and Tracie (Jeff) Crouse; step-grandsons, Jason and Ryan Willett; and nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Eugene Tvrdik, Jerry Tvrdik and Lawrence (Gwen) Tvrdik; brother-in-laws, Wayne Ganske and Roy Kalina. Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Antonia; sisters, Adeline Kalina and Joan Ganske; sister-in-laws, Leona Tvrdik and Patricia Tvrdik. A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Sherry Billberg officiating. Music was provided by Randy Morken, organist and Patrick Kalina, soloist. Interment was held in the Evergreen Cemetery. Casket bearers were Frank Trousil, Matthew Lurken-Tvrdik, Andrew Tvrdik, Timothy Tvrdik, Gregory Tvrdik and Jeff Crouse. Honorary casket bearers were Laurie Trousil and Tracie Crouse. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
