Darlene Flora Maye Bosek was born May 21, 1935 to Mayme Lander and John Hogan. Darlene was baptized on June 10, 1935 and was confirmed on June 12, 1949 at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Moe Township. She graduated from Kensington School in 1953. Darlene was united in marriage to Floyd Bosek on December 28, 1953 at St. John Nepomuk Church in Lowry, MN. They made their home in Alexandria. Darlene worked as a waitress for many years at the Skelly Truck Stop and the Brass Lantern Restaurants. Darlene was involved in the Girl Scouts as a leader for many years. She volunteered at New Horizons, Anderson Funeral Home, Zion Lutheran Church and Douglas County Hospital. Darlene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed Bible Study and sharing with others the word of the Lord as she had a strong faith. After Floyd?s death in 1998 Darlene moved to Hawthorne Estates. She loved to travel and visit her family. She was proud of her 100% Finnish heritage and spent many hours conducting genealogy on both the Hogan and Bosek families. Family was very important to Darlene, she was proud of her children and grandchildren, she spoke often about where they were and what they were doing. Darlene loved to spend time with her brothers, cousins, friends, nieces and nephews as well as her many great nieces and nephews. All have wonderful memories of the time they were blessed to have spent with her. She loved to get to know people, visit with family and friends, reminiscing about times spent together. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and great friend to many. Darlene lived her life to the fullest. She knew her Lord and Savior and was ready to go ?home? to be with her Lord. She died on January 1, 2013 at Knute Nelson under the loving care of Douglas County Hospice. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents John and Mayme Hogan, and her husband Floyd Bosek. She is survived by her three children, Rebecca Bosek (Herb Viergutz) of Anchorage, Alaska, Lyle Bosek of Jordan, MN and Kevin Bosek, (Melinye Bosek) of McCormick, SC, two grandchildren (Matthew and Elizabeth Viergutz), and a step grandson (Robert Norton Herald Jr.). She is also survived by her brothers Warren Hogan of Hoffman, MN and Charles Hogan of Fridley, MN; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 10AM, Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Pastors David Hinz and Terry Finnern, officiating. Mertice Brueske and Dan Olson provided the music. Inurnment will take place at the St. Paul?s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Moe Township with Jane Feeks, Geri Carter, Florence Brosh and Arlene Lanning serving as honorary urnbearers
