David Lee Erie was born May 12, 1952 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Lee and Kathryn Erie. He grew up in Garrison, MN where he lived for several years. On August 30, 1985 David was united in marriage to Melanie Iversen in Wadena, MN. The couple lived in Staples, MN for one and a half years before moving to Alexandria, MN. They were blessed with to children, Benjamin (Lou) and Rachel. David worked several different jobs including working several years at Brenton Engineering. David enjoyed going fishing. He loved watching sports and attended all of Ben and Rachel?s school activities. While David?s life was not always easy and he was known to be ?a walking Murphy?s Law? David always remained an optimist. He liked spending time building things with his children; whatever the kids wanted to build he was always willing to help them build it. His love for his children was always unconditional; whenever they needed to relax or have a laugh Rachel and Ben would visit their father. While sitting back enjoying ESPN, David passed away due to a heart attack on December 3, 2008 at the age of fifty-five. His parents and one sister, Mary Willis, preceded him in death. David is survived by his two children, Benjamin Erie and Rachel Erie; two brothers, Greg Erie and Tom Rudkin; and two sisters, Heidi Rider and Dawn Burassa. A memorial service was held on Monday, December 8, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Alexandria. Rev. Jeff Hansen was the officiant. Lonnie Kriel provided music. Private interment in Garrison will be at a later date. With every rising of the sun, think of your life as just begun. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
