David Joseph was born on October 13, 1935, in St. Cloud, Minnesota the son of Joseph and Angeline (Juenemann) Helterline. He graduated from Cathedral High School and Dunwoody Institute. Dave was united in marriage to Gloria Coenen on October 10, 1964. To this union two children were born: Karin and Paul. The Helterline family lived in Alexandria where Dave worked in the sheet metal business for Herzog Roofing, Peterson Sheet Metal and retired from Buttweiler?s Do-All. Dave loved spending time in his garden but his true pleasure was sharing it with friends. He was an avid reader and liked playing cards and games with family and friends. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially when his son, Paul, was old enough to go along. He was also a competitive shuffle board player in Arizona where he and Gloria wintered for the past 12 years. Everyone will also remember his great sense of humor. Dave died on Monday, April 26, 2010 in Arizona. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughter, Karin & husband, Todd Vossler of Otsego, MN; son, Paul & wife, Herlie of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Dan Helterline of Fountain, MI. He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters ? Ellie Hennemann, Joan Heckelman and Mary Boni. Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held on Sunday, May 9, 2010, 6:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 10, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with Father Marv Enneking officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are the employees of Buttweiler?s Do-All of Alexandria. Inurnment is at St. Mary?s Cemetery.
