David Henry Schackel

David Henry Schackel was born on November 11, 1943 to Louie and Eileen (Larson) Schackel in Alexandria, Minnesota. In his early years he attended a country school near his home. David was active in 4-H and FFA. David was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Church in Carlos. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1961. Enrolled at the AlexTech for Farm Mechanic then worked in Donnelly. In 1965 his was drafted for 2 years in the Army spent most of his time in Germany. After returning home he worked in Carlos. July 25, 1970 married Linda Uhde in Nelson. Was a member to Trinity Lutheran Church. With this union 3 children were born. David had many jobs from driving milk truck, welding at Bellanca, working for the city and finely retiring from Alexandria Extrusion. Drove school bus after retirement. Enjoyed many bus trips. David loved the outdoors from hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. David was a member to the Carlos Fire Dept. also the Carlos First Responder. Many years he served on the Carlos Prairie Cemetery.

David is survived by wife 54 years, son Andrew, daughter Lora (Brian) Ronholdt. Grandchildren Kenneth Pekarek, Amy Pekarek, Tanner Ronholdt, Lilly Ronholdt. Sisters: Lois (Dave) Rairdon, Beverly (Paul) Rairdon Sharon Drakeford and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death of his parents Louie and Eileen, daughter Ramona and two nephews. Brother-in-law Don Nelson and Robert Drakeford.

He will be truly missed.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024, 2:00 – 5:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday, December 23, 2024, 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carlos with Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at Carlos Prairie Cemetery.
