Debora Sullivan

Debora Lee (Fredrickson) Sullivan was born January 18, 1955 in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of William and Delores (Shadduck) Fredrickson. She was raised in Sioux City, where she attended school. Following her graduation from high school, she continued her education in Pella at Central College. Her studies took her to Germany and France, where she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree.

Deb moved to Minneapolis and lived with her brother for a short time. While in the cities, she met her future husband and the two were joined in marriage in 1977, in Brandon, MN. Deb made her home in Brandon, where she worked as a bookkeeper for the family business. She was a stay-at-home mom and raised six children. As her children left the nest, Deb began working as a legal assistant for Mitchell Law Office.

Volunteerism was very important to Deb. She served her community as a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader, as well assisting with 4-H. She taught CCD education at her church and was a longtime member of the school board. Deb also supported her community as a member of the Brandon Lions Club.

Deb was a vegetable gardener and produced fruit in her orchard. She canned much of her produce for family and friends and dubbed these goods as the family grocery store. She was also an excellent cook and loved baking pies, cookies and especially cakes for her family and friends. She loved her dogs, Stephen King, Garth Brooks, Dale Earnhardt and her 1964 ½ Ford Mustang. Deb was a very talented person; she raised pigs and chickens, sewed her daughters' dresses, did quilting and enjoyed ceramics. Her Christmas village was one of her prized possessions. She was currently doing scrapbooking and creating a family cookbook for each of her children. Her children took her fishing in summer and winter. She liked going on vacations with her children and traveling around the country; the beach was one of her favorite places. She was a very dedicated mother and made sure to attend all her children’s and her grandchildren’s sporting events. In addition to her dedication to the children, Deb also served as a mother to many other children.

On Thursday, November 1, 2018, Deb passed away at the age of sixty-three years. She was preceded in death by her father, William Fredrickson. Deb is survived by her mother, Delores Fredrickson of Brandon; sons, Kevin Sullivan and wife, Jess, of Brandon, John Sullivan and wife, Krista, of Brandon, Bryant Sullivan and wife, Kacie, of Parkers Prairie, MN, and Thomas Sullivan and wife, Alyssa, of Alexandria; daughters, Elizabeth Sullivan of Marshall, MN and Kathleen Hubbling and husband, Jim, of Miltona, MN; number seven child, Garrity Gerber of Sartell, MN; grandchildren, Jackson Hubbling, Landon Sullivan, Tristan Hubbling, Chase Sullivan, Wyatt Sullivan, Noah Sullivan, Ivan Sullivan, Isabelle Sullivan, Addy Sullivan and Ryla Sullivan; brothers, Steven Fredrickson and wife, Lyn, of Robbinsdale, MN and Michel Fredrickson and wife, Debra, of Omaha, NE; aunt, Kay Huser of Sioux City, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at the Church of St. Ann in Brandon. Reverend Father Peter Vander Weyst will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.
