Delores Frances Hanson was born October 27, 1928 in Elbow Lake, MN, the daughter of Sevron and Ida (Brenden) Hanson. She grew up on the family farm near Barrett and attended country school. Delores graduated from high school at Barrett and began working for a bakery.
On September 4, 1953 Delores was united in marriage to Eugene Froemming at Ness Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake, MN. The couple made their home in Alexandria and were blessed with five children.
Delores was an at-home mom. She spent time raising her boys; she was a Cub Scout den mother, she took the boys fishing in summer and winter; and she was a fan of the sports in which they participated. In 1979 Gene and Delores moved to Bemidji where, together, they owned and operated Sewing Machine Unlimited. They sold that business in 1995 and retired. In 2001 Gene and Delores moved to St. Cloud, MN to be closer to their sons.
Gene and Delores bought land on a lake close to Itasca State Park and built a cabin there. Delores loved to go camping and spend time in northern Minnesota. For many year Delores and Gene would take their boys on a three week camping trip in the summer. They traveled throughout the United States from the east cost to the west coast.
While living in Alexandria, Delores was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. She also participated as a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliaries.
Delores liked sewing, doing embroidery work and making quilts. She enjoyed gardening both, flowers and vegetables. She loved garage sales and collected many items she thought were unique or special. She had many good memories of her life growing up on the farm that she shared with her family. Delores was a loving wife and mother.
