Deloris Jeanette was born in rural Echo, MN, on August 13, 1928 to Carl and Nellie Bergquist. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith in Echo. Deloris graduated from Echo High School in 1946 and worked as a telephone operator during her high school years.
In 1947, Deloris was united in marriage to Clair E. Johnson from Wabasso. After their marriage the couple lived on the family farm in Wabasso until 1979 when they built a home on Lake Pelican near Glenwood.
Deloris had a lifelong interest in art which led her to take classes in Tole & Decorative painting. This provided her the opportunity to teach, and together with her husband they opened an artist supply store in Glenwood. They also sold their wares at art and craft fairs throughout Minnesota.
In 1990 the couple moved to Alexandria where they continued to sell artwork and became interested in antiques and collectibles. They became a licensed day care provider for 12 years and then decided to move to Florida where they lived for 5 years. The Johnsons then returned to Minnesota to enjoy the rest of their retirement years.
She enjoyed being a teacher, a part of a homemaker’s group, P.T.A. She loved sewing, playing cards, fishing, camping and traveling. Deloris will always be remembered for her love of family.
Deloris died on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the age of 95 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her four children: Gloria Dillard, Lois Luhman, Linda Johnson, David Johnson; 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren and a brother David (Donna) Johnson.
