Denise Lahn

Denise Elizabeth (Savageau) Lahn was born on July 17, 1963 in Moorhead, Minnesota to Richard ?Dick? and Mary Ann (Steidl) Savageau. She graduated from Shanley High School in Fargo. Denise attended the College of St. Benedict and received a degree in elementary education. Denise returned back to Fargo where she taught for 3 years in the Fargo Catholic School Diocese. Denise was united in marriage to Richard ?Rick? Lahn on June 27, 1987 at St. Anthony?s Catholic Church in Fargo. To this union the couple was blessed with a son, Andrew. The family moved to Sartell in 1988, where Denise worked in the St. Cloud Catholic School Diocese for 24 years. She taught grades 1-8 at various times throughout her career. In 1998, Denise was diagnosed with malignant brain cancer and successfully went into remission. In 2007, the family moved to Zimmerman and Denise worked as a volunteer coordinator and receptionist at Christ Our Light Catholic Parish. Denise and Rick moved to Alexandria in March of 2013. Right after moving to Alexandria, Denise had a follow up with her doctor and found out that the cancer had returned and was more aggressive. Denise fought courageously and went to be with her Lord on Monday, February 17, 2014 at her home with her loving family by her side. Denise enjoyed puzzles, playing games, suduko, reading, watching The Home and Garden Network. She loved being with family, and spending time with Rick and Andrew. She also loved her church where she was very involved. Denise is survived by her loving husband, Rick of Alexandria; son, Andrew of Alexandria; father, Dick (Sharon) Savageau of Fargo; siblings, Kevin (Julie) Savageau of Shoreview, Tim (Karen) Savageau of Lakeville, Donna (Todd) Hammer of Dallas, TX, and Dave (Robin) Savageau of Edina; step-siblings, Laura (John) Graham of Eden Prairie, Dick (Jennifer) Mullen of Fargo, Mark (Robin) Mullen of Chanhassen, Mike Mullen of Fargo and Julie (Darrell) Zimmel of Fargo; and many nieces and nephews. Denise is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann ?Mitzi? Savageau. A special thank you to Hospice of Douglas County and Tom and Rachel Savageau for all their love and support. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10 AM at the Church of St. Mary in Alexandria. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Church of St. Mary from 4-8 PM with Parish Prayers at 7:30. Interment will be at the Holy Cross North Cemetery in Fargo. Memorials are preferred to Hospice of Douglas County. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria
