DENNIS B. DUMM Dennis Brett Dumm was born in Alexandria on December 21, 1977, the son of Brad and Sue (Carlson) Dumm. He attended District #206 and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1996. Dennis was a member of the swim team, where he competed in the breaststroke. He also played the alto sax in high school and had a love of all types of music. He attended Moorhead State University and graduated in 2001 with a BA in Visual Arts with an emphasis in Photography. Dennis moved to Minneapolis after college and worked in his field of photography. For the past year, he has worked with Albinson Reprographics in Minneapolis as a large format print operator. Dennis reconnected with his childhood friend Christi Desautels at the wedding of his brother Jon in 2005. Together they built a home in Minneapolis; enjoying time with their pets, entertaining friends, gardening, biking, watching movies, and cooking. Dennis had a creative eye for photography and worked weddings and special events with his friend Adam Costello. Some of his hobbies were fishing, canoeing, boating, and wake boarding. He was an avid wine maker and enjoyed canoe trips with his friends to the Boundary Waters. Another of Dennis?s passions was the environment. He was a nature lover who always took time to conserve resources, recycle, and use his bicycle for transportation. Dennis?s family was always important to him. His favorite holiday was Christmas, and he always made it home to be with his family. He especially was looking forward to a canoe trip on the St. Croix River with his father and brothers this summer. Dennis B. Dumm died on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 in Minneapolis, MN as the result of a bicycle accident. Dennis will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his parents Bradley and Susan Dumm of Alexandria; brothers Gabriel (Amy) Dumm and nieces Skylar and Kaia Dumm of Roseburg, OR and Jonathan (Jessica) Dumm of Madison, WI; grandpa Aaron Dumm of Mapleton, MN; his beloved Christi Desautels of Minneapolis, MN; aunts Karen Tanner of Waterville, MN, Jean Shields of Crystal, MN, and Jan Fassbender of Fargo, ND; uncles Ted (Julie) Trojahn of Nassau, MN, Robert (Janice) Setterberg of Roseburg, OR, and Ed (Betty) Elson of Madison, MN; close cousin Adam Tanner of Bozeman, MT; many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pearl Dumm, Paul and Agatha Trojahn, and uncles Donald Fassbender and Gerald Shields. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Alexandria with the Reverend Steve Binsfeld officiating. Interment was in the St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery. Casket Bearers were Tim Facciotto, Adam Costello, Jason Dirks, Jonas Capistrant, Justin Costello, and Kevin Desautels. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
