Dennis Kempen

Dennis was born on August 17, 1941, In Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of Robert and Annabelle (Lee) Van Kempen. He attended school in Minneapolis and served his country in the United States Navy.
On May 14, 1960 Dennis was united in marriage to Joyce Barklind at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. The couple lived in Brooklyn Center for a while before moving to Alexandria where they raised their family.
Dennis worked for the telephone company as a repairman. Dennis loved to fix things and there was nothing he couldn’t fix. He also enjoyed fishing, beating you at cribbage, taking care of the lawn and he loved animals, especially his dog and best buddy, Hank.
Dennis died on Sunday, June 28, 2015, he is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Dan of Torrance, CA; daughters: Deb Spaulding of Eden Prairie, Kim Steffens of Alexandria, Andra Johnson of St. Cloud, Jodi Van Kempen of Tujunga, CA; eight grandchildren; nieces, Luree Jackobson, Selena Pass; nephew, Mike Arvidson.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert & Anne; sister, Diane Arvidson.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015, 12:00 PM at Chapel at Fort Ripley. Burial at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
