It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dianne Elizabeth Tomoson, aged 80, who left us peacefully on March 6, 2025. Born on October 27, 1944, in Aitkin, Minnesota, Dianne lived a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and beauty—both inside and out.
Dianne attended country school near Glen, Minnesota, until the eighth grade and graduated from Aitkin High School in 1963. Following her passion for beauty, she earned her certificate at Robinson Beauty College in Minneapolis. It was in South Minneapolis that Dianne began her career as a beautician, and where she met the love of her life, Clifford Tomoson. Their romance blossomed, leading to their marriage on February 6, 1965, in a Minneapolis church. Together, they styled hair at Lindy’s Hair Salon before starting a new chapter in Alexandria, MN, in 1971 with their two sons, Troy and Chad.
As they built their family, Dianne continued her work in the beauty industry, initially at the Beauty Nook before embracing the entrepreneurial spirit that led to the acquisition of June's Beauty Inn, which they lovingly renamed Head-Lines. For over 35 years, Dianne and Clifford worked side by side, creating a warm and welcoming environment where countless clients became friends. Dianne also took pride in ensuring that the actors at Quad A had their makeup perfect for their performances. Beyond her work, Dianne served as the former president of the local hair stylist association and contributed her expertise to the State Board of Cosmetology, leaving her mark on the industry she cherished.
Dianne was known for her warm smile, kindness, caring nature and love of laughter. She enjoyed immersing herself in puzzles, ceramics, reading, and collecting jewelry and miniature shoes. She was a dedicated grandmother who adored her two granddaughters, Cassy and Kathryn, and she delighted in spoiling them with love and gifts.
Dianne is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Clifford Tomoson, her sons, Troy Tomoson and Chad (Kari) Tomoson, and her cherished granddaughters, Cassy (Max Emerson) Tomoson and Kathryn (fiancé Nick Zabroski) Tomoson. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dianne will be deeply missed, but her warm spirit and legacy of kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Steve.
