OBITUARY Donald Gene Borchert, the son of Clarence and Annie (Hoium) Borchert, was born on August 22, 1928 in Hoffman, MN. He was united in marriage to Myrdene Froemming in Miltona, MN on September 30, 1950. Don moved from Hoffman, to Nelson, and then to Alexandria. Don was a member of Company K. 136th infantry regiment. During the Korean War, the regiment was activated on January 15, 1951, and left for Camp Rusker, Alabama. After the service Don came back to Alexandria and worked different jobs until he started with Alexandria Police force on June 1, 1958. He became Captain in July of 1970, until his retirement on August 31, 1983, after 25 years on the police force. During Don?s retirement he became one of the first greeters at Walmart. His true interests were hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing cards with family and friends. Donald G. Borchert died on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Peaceful Bliss in Alexandria at the age of 85 years old. He is survived by his wife of Myrdene Borchert; three sons, Daniel of Miltona; Mark of Mesa, AZ, and Steven (Jean) of Alexandria; two granddaughters, Kelly and Carrie both of Miltona; one brother Arnold (Marlyce) Borchert of Grantsburg, WI. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Reverend Hans Dahl officiating. Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery.
