Donald Lambert, age 88, of Alexandria, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the Church of St. Mary in Alexandria. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with parish prayers beginning at 7:30 PM. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.
Obituary
Donald Henry Lambert was born May 13, 1927 at Fulda, MN, the son of Meddie and Mollie (Pollack) Lambert. He was raised on a farm near Fulda and attended school at District 4 in Graham Lake Township.
Donald farmed the family farm until he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ohlenkamp in 1950. This union was blessed with nine children.
In 1960 Donald moved his family to a farm near Clinton, MN. In 1973 Donald’s wife, Betty, died.
In 1974 Donald was united in marriage to Irene Witte. They moved to Alexandria, MN in 1980. Alexandria was the right community for them; it had good schools, good lakes and good fishing. Donald thought it was a good place to retire.
After retiring from farming Donald kept busy doing lake home caretaking and pay phone servicing. Donald and Irene also owned and operated a Mini Donut concession.
Throughout his life Donald enjoyed playing and watching baseball; at one time he considered a career in professional baseball but turned it down to be with his family. He also enjoyed country music, bowling, fishing, hunting, lapidary work, traveling RVing and wintering in Florida. Most of all, Donald enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.
On Wednesday, May 27, 2015 Donald died at the age of eighty eight years. He was preceded in death by his parent, Meddie and Mollie Lambert; his first wife, Betty Lambert; one sister, Irene Morran; and two grandchildren, Trevor Lambert and Cassandra Lambert. Donald is survived by his wife, Irene Lambert of Alexandria; children, Gary Lambert and friend, Norma Cook, of Milbank, SD, Greg Lambert and wife, Carol, of Dakota, MN, Gale Lambert and wife, Pam, of West Salem, WI, Brian Lambert and wife, JoAnn, of Careywood, ID, Judy Ellingson and husband, Donnie, of Burnsville, MN, Jolene Herrmann and husband, Gene, of Ramsey, MN, Randy Lambert and wife, Jan, of Willmar, MN, Jill Bullard of Brooklyn Park, MN, Lori Lambert of Buffalo, MN, Dave Witte and wife, Judy, of Woodbury, MN, and Linda Scott and husband, Jerry, of Miltona, MN; grandchildren, Tawnya and husband, Christian,, Tracy and husband, Doug, Whitney, Heather and husband, Matt, Scott and friend, Wendy, Jake and wife, Angela, Katherine, Jennifer and husband, Johnny, Elizabeth, Alixandria, Kyle, Kory and wife, Marie, Kristina and husband, Leon, Katrina, Jason and wife, Angela, Jami and fiancANLGAC., Russ, Sean, Mike, Ashley, Alana, Paige, Doug and wife, Denise, Laura and husband, John, Kurt, Kevin and wife, Andrea; thirty-four great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 3 2015 at the Church of St. Mary in Alexandria. Reverend Father Steve Binsfeld will be the celebrant. Entombment will follow in the church cemetery. Casket bearers include all of Donald’s grandsons. Honorary casket bearer is Joe Zunker.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Douglas County Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
