OBITUARY
Donald DuWayne Sletto was born on March 4, 1941 in Alexandria, Minnesota, the son of Tomford and Martha Sletto. He attended grade school in Evansville, MN. After 2nd grade Donald moved to Alexandria and lived with his grandmother. He later lived in Owatonna, Faribault, Cambridge, Fergus Falls and then moved to Elbow Lake, where he lived the last 17 years. It was while living with his mother that he would use his beautiful singing voice to sing hymns while she played to piano. This is where he found his devotion to church and traditional hymns.
Donald loved setting up and operating the electric train with his brother and visiting the family farm riding tractors and working with the cattle. Donald was very talented and creative. As a child he would make drum sets out of pails and has always been an avid drawer. He was a collector of miniature cars, trucks, and tractors memorizing and being able to recite every make and model. Donald had what was said to be a photographic mind and could recite information and pictures at will. He was an avid fan of Lawrence Welk and Molly B music and could dance to every song.
Donald would spent his holidays with his family, enjoying this time and taking driving trips out to see the old family farm. He will be remembered as a kind and caring man.
Donald died on Friday December 26, 2014. He is now home with his Savior Jesus Christ. He is survived by his brother, Stanley Sletto of Crystal, MN; nieces, Brenda Sletto of Bloomington, Valerie (Eric) Preston of Watertown, MN; great-nephew, Zachery Preston of Watertown; great-nieces, Ashley, Megan and Skyler Preston, all of Watertown.
