Donna Marie Johnson was born September 14, 1925 in Urness Township, MN, the daughter of John and Marion (Lea) Johnson. Donna grew up in Evansville, MN area and graduated from Evansville High School. On March 2, 1947 Donna was united in marriage to Donald Johnson at St. Petri Church near Brandon, MN. The couple made their home near Brandon where they farmed for several years. They were blessed with two children, Debra and Dale. In 1963 they moved to the home farm of Donna?s grandfather. They continued farming until 1986. Donna began working as a cook at Crestview Manor in Evansville in the mid 1960?s. She continued at the home for almost twenty-five years. Following her retirement She and Donald moved to Evansville in 1986. Donna continued at Crestview Manor as a volunteer for many years and also volunteered at the community center. She served her church as treasurer for many years and also served in the Ladies Aid. Donna enjoyed spending time reading and doing crossword puzzles. She liked to play cards, especially hand & foot and also whist. Donna was a very good cook. Her family enjoyed Dona?s flatbread, lefse, lutefisk, pies and especially her sour cream raisin bars. On Sunday, July 24, 2011 Donna died at the age of eighty-five years. Her husband, Donald Johnson and one brother, Mayo Johnson, preceded her in death. Donna is survived by her two children, Debra Johnson and partner, Mary Greene, of St. Paul, MN and Dale Johnson and wife, Rose, of Glencoe, MN; three grandchildren, Jason Telecky and wife, Laura, Beth Johnson and Daniel Johnson and friend, Amanda Dressel; three great grandchildren, Elizabeth ?Ellie?, Olivia and Aaliyah; four brothers, Laurel Johnson of Evansville, Omar Johnson of Marshall, MN, Vernon Johnson of Fargo, ND and Douglas Johnson and wife, Elaine, of Sauk Centre, MN; and one sister, Audrey Hermanson and husband, Donald, of Thief River Falls, MN. A funeral service was held Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at St. Petri Church. Rev. Harold Knutson officiated. Gregory Kapphahn provided music. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Casket bearers included Jerry Johnson, Arlynn Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Jason Telecky, Roger Rosengren and Charlie Johnson. Beth Johnson was named an honorary casket bearer. Arrangements were with Anderson Funeral Home.
