Donna G. Westergren was born October 16, 1913 in Bertha, MN, the daughter of Oscar and Lulu (Courtright) Westergren. She grew up in Bertha and attended Bertha Schools. Donna also attended Hamline University in St. Paul, MN and later attended beauty school in Staples, MN. On September 13, 1936 Donna was united in marriage to Calvyn ?Mully? Kelroy at Bertha. They made there home in Bertha where Donna operated her own beauty shop. In 1951 the couple moved to the Alexandria Area. They made their home on Lake Miltona where they owned and operated Stodden?s Resort. She enjoyed working at the resort and meeting new people; many of which became lifelong friends with Donna. She was great at selling tackle and most fishermen walked out of her shop with more tackle than they ever intended to buy. In 1968 Donna and Mully sold the resort and retired. They continued to live at their lake home where they enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling. In 1995 they moved into Alexandria. Donna enjoyed doing all kinds of craftwork including knitting, cross-stitch and embroidery. She and Mully traveled extensively visiting Mexico, Alaska and two trips to Europe. Donna?s younger brother, David, served in the US Navy and Donna and Mully always visited his family wherever he was stationed. Donna had a special fondness for pets; over the years she cared for many cats and dogs. Donna also liked to pass time playing bridge with her friends. Donna was a member of the Eastern Star and a longtime member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. On Wednesday, April 27, 2011 Donna died at the age of ninety-seven years. Her husband, Mully Kelroy, preceded her in death. Donna is survived by her bother, David Westergren and wife, Betty, of Lake Miltona; nephew, David Westergren, Niece, Lynne Westergren; great nieces, Sarah Westergren, Rachael Smith, Jessica Westergren, Michelle Griep and Jill Griep; one great great nephew Grayson Smith; and cousins, Roger Betz and Barb Penner. A funeral service was held Monday, May 2, 2011 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Alexandria. Reverend Scott Keehn officiated. Kim Byrne and Diane Alveshere provided music. Interment followed in the Kinkead Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
