Donna Karol (Lindgren) Magnusen was born April 14, 1933 to Roy John Lindgren Sr. and Verna Irene (Laughlan) Lindgren. She graduated from Marshall High School. Donna attended Moorhead Teachers College for 2 years where she met James A. Johnson. Donna married James Johnson in 1953 and the couple moved to Montevideo where she was a homemaker. The couple was blessed with three children, Rob, Randy and Mary Jane. The family moved to Minneapolis for a few years where she did some modeling and then to Cambridge. She started the Donna Karol Company in 1982 that specialized in handicapped clothing. Donna married Ed Magnusen on March 18, 1978. The couple moved to Alexandria and started the Carrington House a bed and breakfast. Donna was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church where she was very involved. She loved to play bridge, collect antiques and being with her dogs. Donna died at the age of 76. She is survived by sons, Rob Johnson of Alexandria and Randy Johnson of Philadelphia; daughter, Mary Jane Vipond and Gordon of Alexandria and grandchildren, Mitchell and Meghan Vipond; sisters, Marion (John) McDonald and Georgia (Donald) Catton both San Diego, CA; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Verna; husbands, James Johnson and Ed Magnusen; and brother, Dr. Roy Johnson Jr. A memorial service will be held at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria at 11 AM on Monday, February 15, 2010.
