Doralean Mosher

Doralean Erika Blake was born on April 23, 1930 to Berthold and Alvina (Bredow) Blake in Folden Township, Ottertail County, where she grew up with nine other siblings. She attended school through the 11th grade before eventually marrying Archie Mosher on December 19, 1947 after WWII and Archie’s service in the Air Force had ended. The couple moved to Fargo, ND in 1953 and then to Minneapolis in 1961. Doralean balanced motherhood and raising her and Archie’s three sons, Gary, Lyle, and Wayne, and working as a bookkeeper for Archie’s Amoco and Locksmith businesses. In 1990 the couple moved to Alexandria where they enjoyed retirement and being members of the Lakes Area Seventh Day Adventist Church until Archie’s death in 2006. Doralean loved flower gardens, birds, painting, and drawing, and was known as the family historian, even publishing a book about her family’s genealogy. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be sorely missed by friends and family.

On Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at the age of 89, Doralean passed away surrounded by family at her home. She is preceded in death by her parents, Berthold and Alvina Blake; husband of 58 years, Archie; brothers, Donald, Verlin, and Bert Blake, and sisters, Angeline, Evelyn, and Merion Blake, Viola and Opahl Wark, and Marjorie Hendershot.

Doralean is survived by her sons, Gary (Lorraine), Lyle, and Wayne (De) Mosher; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild, and sisters-in-law Mary and Linda Blake.

Visitation will be on Sunday, September 8th from 4-7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and continue on Monday, September 9th from noon to 1 PM, followed by the funeral service at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Kinkead Cemetery.
