Dorothy Lorraine Anderson Cook was born on June 12, 1931, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of Joel and Stella (Fritz) Anderson. She attended school in Sioux Falls graduating from High School in 1949. After her schooling Dorothy worked as a secretary for the VA in Sioux Falls. In 1953, Dorothy was united in marriage to Roger Cook. Roger and Dorothy were blessed with four children. Dorothy was a homemaker while her children were growing up. Dorothy was an active volunteer in her church community always willing to serve. After her children were grown, Dorothy worked as a Nursing Assistant at the Hospital and later at the nursing home. Dorothy will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a generous woman who was happiest when she was in service to her family and community. She was loved and will be missed by all whose life she touched. Dorothy was always pleasant and always grateful for her care givers over the past 10 years. Dorothy died on Thursday, September 27, 2012. She is survived by her husband, Roger; sons: Bruce (Vicki) of Indian Shores, FL, Dan (LaRae) of Alexandria, MN, Steve (Marie) of St. Cloud, MN; daughter, Cheryl Glad (Lori) of St. Joseph; three grandchildren: Amy Cook, Sara Cook, Michael Wesely; sister, Connie (Merlyn) DeBoer of Lake Okoboji, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service celebrating Dorothy?s Life on Monday, October 1, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Andrea Olson officiating.
