OBITUARY Dorothy Mae Dunne was born on May 25, 1918 the daughter of Peter and Pauline (Oberfeld) Rasmussen in Mott, ND. She graduated from New Richland High School in 1936 and then moved to Minneapolis. She worked various jobs in Minneapolis and also the Ford Plant during WWII. After the war she met Bernard Dunne and they were united in marriage on February 9, 1946 in Minneapolis. After military stays in New York and South Dakota they moved back to Minneapolis. Dorothy was a homemaker until the late 60?s when she returned to the food service industry until her retirement in 1980. During retirement Dorothy and Bernard lived in Texas and Arkansas until Bernard?s death in 2005. Dorothy moved to Alexandria to be close to her daughters Kathleen and Mary. Dorothy loved her family and especially her great grandson Evan. She loved to bake and would show her love through her baked goods. She liked to go shopping and also kept up with current events. Dorothy liked to read, play cribbage and visit with friends. She also listened to big band music and she loved to dance. Dorothy M. Dunne died on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Bethany Home at the age of 92 years old. She is survived by her daughters Kathleen Zimmer (LeRoy) of Alexandria; Mary Dunne-Mann (Eric) of Minneapolis, MN; granddaughter Jennifer Barber of Alexandria; great grandchildren Dylan, Kyle, and Evan Barber all of Alexandria; and her beloved furry grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard Dunne; parents; 3 brothers and 1 sister. A Memorial Mass was held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Alexandria. Interment was in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. The family wishes to thank the staff and residents from the Bethany Community for the love and friendship they gave our Mom; and the caring support from Hospice in her final days.
