b. August 5, 1922

Dorothy Marie Carter was born August 5, 1922 in Belton, MO, the daughter of Charles and Maude Carter. She grew up and attended school in Ottawa, KS. During World War II Dorothy supported her country by working in a munitions plant. In 1953 Dorothy moved to Minneapolis with her family. Dorothy loved working with food. She began work at a cafeteria and went on to join Saga Foods where she managed several different cafeterias in large corporations. In 1982 Dorothy moved to Alexandria, MN and went to work helping her daughter, Joann and son-in-law, Michael run Michaels Supper Club. While working at the club Dorothy met Arley Struck, the love of her life. Dorothy and Arley were united in marriage on December 3, 1983 at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Dorothy continued working for a time in the mid 1980?s for the Maid-Rite in Alexandria. After retiring Dorothy and Arley made crafts. She enjoyed her vegetable garden and liked to go dancing. She also liked cooking and going bowling. She was active in her church circle and helped out with church events. Dorothy had many happy memories of family and friends. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend. She will be missed greatly by all of us. On Saturday, October 2, 2010 Dorothy died at the age of eighty-eight years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arley Struck; her parents; one son-in-law, Michael Carver; and two brothers, Ray and Charles Carter. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Joann Carver of Anoka, MN; her son Terry McCullough and wife, Laurie, of Arden Hills; her step-son, Steve and wife, Nancy, Struck of Alexandria; grandchildren, Kristin, McCullough, Aaron McCullough, Laura Pelzl, Patricia Palmer, Michael Carver, Kym Struck, Kendra Hohman, Kelly Struck and Kyra Welch, nineteen great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren; one sister Helen Butorac of Brooklyn Center, MN; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Garfield. Reverend Shawn Etheridge will officiate. Elaine Beulke will provide music. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
