Dorothy Wiswell

Dorothy Marian Hauer was born February 6, 1935 in Carlos, MN, the daughter of Francis and Marian (Botzet) Hauer. She was baptized and confirmed at St William’s Church in Parkers Prairie.  Dorothy attended country school. Following her schooling she helped her parents on the family farm.

On April 20, 1954 Dorothy was united in marriage to Harvey Wiswell at St. William’s. The couple was blessed with four children, Terry, Connie, Phyllis and Steven. Dorothy made her home in Miltona, MN for the next fifty-seven years.  Dorothy worked for about sixteen years as a CNA at the Knute Nelson home in Alexandria. She also was the custodian at the bank in Miltona for many years.  Recently she became a resident of St. William’s Living Center in Parkers Prairie.

Dorothy loved spending time in her gardens; she raised flowers and vegetables and always had produce to share. She also enjoyed reading of all kinds. Music was an important part of her life; Dorothy taught herself to play the accordion and piano. She loved to sing and to listen to music. Dorothy served in the choir at St. Nicholas Church in Belle River.  Dorothy enjoyed participating in bible studies and found that house painting gave her time to meditate on life. Dorothy also loved dogs; especially her poodle.

On Friday, February 16, 2018 Dorothy died at the age of eighty-three years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Wiswell.  Dorothy is survived by her children, Terry Wiswell of Alexandria, Connie Wiswell of Alexandria, Phyllis Carr of Nashville, IN and Steven Wiswell of Washington, IN; grandchildren Travis Wiswell, Trish Elliot, Trenton Wiswell, Justina Murphy, Alysha Peters, McKayla Carr, Ronnie Carr and Terry Carr; fourteen Great grandchildren; one great great grandson; brothers, Jim Hauer and wife, Dolloween, of Carlos and Darold Hauer and wife, Charlotte, of Miltona; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Church of St. Nicholas in Belle River, MN. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Tuesday at the Anderson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at church.
