Korkowski, Douglas J. of Garrison, Minnesota passed away on September 21, 2023. Doug was born on September 8th, 1956, in Alexandria, Minnesota, the son of Walter and Wilma (Zierman) Korkowski. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Alexandria in 1974. Following high school Doug went to Alexandria Technical Institute studying Finance. Doug started his career at Cenex in Alexandria, Minnesota. Doug continued his studies and became a CPA traveling and working across Minnesota, North and South Dakota and Iowa.
He married the love of his life Linda Gale on November 28, 2003, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Because of Linda’s two children, Doug was extremely proud of the fact that he became a husband, a dad, grandpa and a great grandpa all on the same day. They spent their lives together living in Alexandria before moving to Springfield, Illinois. Doug finished his career in Springfield retiring in 2018 to travel the country by truck and 5th wheel travel trailer along with their precious dogs. He enjoyed the many sites they visited, meeting great people, and visiting family. In 2020, Doug battled Covid and related problems which led them to give up their travels and settle in Garrison, Minnesota.
Family was very important to Doug, shown by his attending and planning many family gatherings and reunions. He loved family history shown by his continued work on family ancestry during his retirement. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He enjoyed the many family hunting trips to Wyoming and fishing trips to Sasa-ginni-gak Lake in Manitoba.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and sister Donna M. Drexler. Doug is survived by his wife Linda of 19 years, her daughter Rhonda Dupra and son Ricky Bestul along with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Gary (special friend Robin Peterson) of Menomonie, WI, Pete (Sue) of Lino Lakes, MN, Mike (Willen) of Maple Grove, MN; sisters, Barb (Karl) Sitterle of Loudan, TN, Mary (Scott) Schoeler of Milton, WI; as well as many nieces and nephews and many relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023, 1:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home with visitation from 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
