Douglas Eugene Hermanson, age 73, of Alexandria, died peacefully at his home on Friday, March 3, 2017 with his wife by his side.
Doug was born on March 27, 1943, to Leslie and Hazel (Thompson) Hermanson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church rural Brandon. Doug graduated from Brandon High School in 1961. He went to college and joined the National Guard.
Doug was united in marriage to Yvonne Bettermann on November 6, 1965, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. After honeymooning in Colorado, they decided to move to Denver. Two years later they moved back to Minneapolis as Doug wanted to finish College at the U of M. While going to the U he also worked at Univac in purchasing. He graduated from the Carlson School of Business at the U of M with a Degree in Business.
Doug's career was in sales and marketing. He was influential in growing hi tech start-up companies. His work required traveling all over the United States.
In 2007, Doug retired to his home on Lake Ida. At that time he started Cloud Marketing which was a marketing service that helped individuals bring their product to market.
Doug had a strong faith. He was active member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church where he was head usher. He is now a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. He remembered going to Mount Carmel Sunday services with his parents growing up and still enjoyed going back.
Doug liked fishing, especially with his grandkids. They were his pride and joy. He enjoyed sports, following the Vikings, Twins and was an avid fan of the Gophers. He liked having coffee with friends and discussing sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; daughter, Karri Hermanson of Minneapolis; son, Michael (Jodi) of Andover; grandchildren: Miah, William, Nathan. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roger.
Memorials are preferred to Hospice of Douglas County and Mount Carmel Ministries.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017, 1:00 PM at Mount Carmel Chapel in Alexandria. Burial will be at St. Petri Cemetery rural Brandon. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
