Dr. Bill "Lucky" Luckemeyer

Dr. William "Bill" Luckemeyer, a compassionate veterinarian known for his dedication to his profession and his love for family, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on April 1, 2024. He was born on July 19,1946, to Dr. Carl and Norma Luckemeyer in St. Cloud, MN.

Bill graduated from Cathedral High School, St. John's University, and The University of Minnesota School of Veterinary Medicine. It was during his time at the university that he met the love of his life, Donna (Meller), whom he married on June 27,1970. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Nancy and Jenna (Dale) Zins, and two grandsons, Trent and Josh Zins.

In 1972, Bill and Donna made the decision to move to Alexandria, where Bill joined the Alexandria Veterinary Clinic, a year later became a partner. Bill had a passion for his profession, caring for both large and small animals.

Beyond his work, Bill found solace and joy in the outdoors. He loved nothing more than hunting and fishing with family and friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, but his legacy lives on through his beloved wife Donna, daughters Nancy and Jenna (Dale) Zins, grandsons Trent and Josh, sisters Roseann Aust and Carol Bares, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Those who knew Bill remember him for his heart of gold and his infectious sense of humor. He was a devoted husband and family man.  Bill was truly a professional in his field, earning him the affectionate nickname "Lucky."  Memorials are preferred to St. Cloud Heart & Vascular Center 1406 Sixth Ave N. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024, 3:00 – 6:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home.  Visitation will continue on Monday, April 15, 2024, 10:00 – 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.  Burial will be at Kinkead Cemetery.
