OBITUARY Duane Harold Lokken was born the son of Harold and Margaret (Johnson) Lokken on February 2, 1941 in New Effington, SD. He attended and graduated from Cyrus High School in 1959. Duane married Diane Payne on December 21, 1959 in Cyrus, MN. Together they had three children Todd, Stephanie, and Debra. Duane worked at the Cyrus Grain Elevator until he and his family moved to Wendell, MN where he managed the Wendell Elevator. He continued to working at grain elevators in Revere, MN and Walnut Grove, MN. Duane and Diane moved to St. Cloud, MN in 1974. He went to school to become a barber and together with his wife Diane they owned Plaza West Hairstyling until 1983. He drove truck for a short time and also did carpentry work. Duane underwent a lung transplant on August 3, 2000. Although he struggled with his illness he still enjoyed life by fishing and hunting with his wife and family, driving his Kubota tractor and making lefsa. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Duane H. Lokken died on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 73 years old. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Diane Lokken of Alexandria; son Todd Lokken of Paynesville, MN; daughters Stephanie (Kevin) Barthel of Fort Ripley, MN and Debra (Mike) Kittridge of Rice, MN; grandchildren Jonathon, Kalin, Grant, Jacob, Ashley, Mitchell, Jessie, Cassie, and Tyler; great grandchildren Jackson, Liley, Logan, Taylor, and Sophie; brother Dennis (Patty) Lokken of Westport, WA; sister Carol (Art) Tranby of Green Valley, AZ and Lois (Fred) McGreger of Grand Forks, ND; uncle Willis (Polly) Lokken; cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria with the Reverend Rollen Halvorson officiating. Interment was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Cyrus, MN. Urn Bearers were Todd Lokken, Stephanie Wegler-Barthel, and Debra Kittridge. Honorary Urn Bearers were all of Duane?s grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria www.andersonfuneral.net
