Duane was born on February 17, 1930, in Alexandria, Minnesota the son of Harry Olaf and Mildred Natalie Josephine (Christopherson) Myrin. He was baptized at the Chippewa Mission Covenant Church north of Garfield and confirmed in 1945 at a Lutheran Church in West St.Paul. Duane attended country school in Garfield. When Duane was thirteen his father passed away and the family moved to the Twin Cities. He attended South High School in Minneapolis and graduated in 1948. Duane furthered his education attending Augsburg College and received his Degree in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota. Duane served his country as a pilot during the Korean War in the United States Navy. During his service to his country Duane was united in marriage to Yvonne Edwards on April 3, 1954 in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He was Honorably Discharged on July 22, 1957. After serving his country the Myrin family moved to Minnesota and in 1962 moved to Des Moines, Iowa for twelve years before moving to farm north of Garfield where the couple has resided ever since. Duane enjoyed flying, golfing and was a very athletic individual. It was very important to him even as he struggled physically to remain active and belonged to Racquetball Plus until the last couple of years. He will be remembered by his wife and children as a faithful man who never waived from his love for his family. Mr. Myrin died on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; sons: Harry of Garfield, Rob (Cassie) of Osakis, John (Becky) of Pryor, OK; daughters: Tina of Des Moines, IA, Janis (Willie) Shea of Atwater, MN, Cynthia (Alan) Norling of Alexandria; seventeen grandchildren, four great grandchildren; two brothers: Charles (Gloria) Myrin of Alexandria, Roger Myrin of Garfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Garfield with Rev. Shawn Etheridge officiating. Pallbearers were his grandsons: Matthew Gustafson, Gerardo Myrin, Ricky Shea, Rory Shea, Riley Shea, Daniel Honza, Alex Myrin, Micah Myrin, Gabriel Myrin. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Garfield, MN. Military Honors were by Minnesota National Guard and the Brandon Legion Post #278.
