Duane Roers

Duane ?Dewey? Roers was born on September 27, 1944, in Alexandria, Minnesota the son of Frank and Mary (Miller) Roers. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Millerville. All of Dewey?s life was spent as a truck driver starting with driving a dump truck for his dad. His co-workers nicknamed him ?Horsekiller ? and many stories were told of how he got this name. Dewey was also affectionately referred to by many as ?Bear?. Dewey had a great love for people, a huge heart and made friends wherever he went. He never missed a family reunion and cherished time spent with family and friends. Duane died on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, in Youngstown, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Evansville; two children: Reta Roers of Moundsview, MN, Peter Roers of Coon Rapids, MN; step-daughter, Jo-Ann Frazier-Hansen & husband, Greg of Isanti, MN; step-son, Shawn Johnson of Anoka; grandson, Tyler Roers; granddaughter, Jessie Roers; mother, Mary Roers of Alexandria; brothers: John & wife, MaryAnn of Sioux Falls, Joe & wife, Betty of Marshall, MN, Jim & wife, Sandra, Ted & wife, Paula, Fran & fianc�e, Pam Carlson all of Fargo, Harry & wife, Jeanie of Alexandria; sister, Anne Hagner of Alexandria; sister-in-law, Mazie & Jim Kruse of Alexandria, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; father, Frank; brothers: Kenneth & Thomas and infant sister, Mary Susan. Visitation will be on Monday, July 21, from 5-8 p.m. with a Parish Prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Millerville, MN. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home
