Edna Anderson

Edna Anna Lena Klug was born June 24, 1917 in Ida Township, MN, the daughter of Carl and Dena (Kloehn) Klug. Edna grew up in Ida Township and attended parochial school in Garfield, MN. Following her schooling she worked as a housekeeper for some of the local families. On March 29, 1937 Edna was united in marriage to Adolph Froemming. The couple made their home in Leaf Valley Township where they farmed for many years. They were blessed with three children, Davis, Daniel and Barbara. In 1968 Adolph died and Edna moved to Alexandria. On November 14, 1971 Edna was united in marriage to Melvin Anderson. Following Melvin?s death in 1991 Edna continued living at her home in Alexandria. In 2007 Edna moved to Bethel Manor. Edna was a strong woman, she knew what she wanted and would tell you so. She also was strong in her Christian faith. She was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church and later, of Zion Lutheran Church. For several years, she worked at McCabe?s Camera and Gift Store. Edna was active at church in the women?s quilting group and the Zion Evening Guild. For seventeen years she served as head of the funeral lunch committee at Zion Lutheran Church helping families at their hardest times. Edna volunteered her time elsewhere, she had volunteered at least 4500 hours at Knute Nelson where she worked in the coffee shop and brought comfort to others. Family and friends were important to her. Edna was an excellent cook. She made rosettes and homemade donuts. Her family always looked forward to her making peppernuts at the holidays. And nobody could beat Edna when it came to making lemon pie. Many of the things that came from Edna?s kitchen ended up winning blue or purple ribbons at the Douglas County Fair. Edna was also known for her beautiful flower garden wherever she was living. On Friday, November 8, 2013 Edna died in her home at the age of ninety-six years. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Adolph Froemming and Melvin Anderson; five brothers; four sisters; and one grandson, Andy West. Edna is survived by her two sons, Davis Froemming and wife, LaVonne, of Alexandria and Daniel Froemming and wife, Pat, of Pillager, MN; one daughter, Barbara West and husband, Eric, of Eagle Point, OR; four grandchildren, Janelle Riley, Todd Froemming, Jana Froemming and Amy Wilhelms; eleven great grandchildren, Kellen, Jenna, Austin, Hackett, Keaton, Ben, Katelynn, Grace, Nathan, Anne and Kate; one great great granddaughter, Alice; one sister, Adina Gasbarri of Ironwood, MN; sister-in-law, Mabel Klug; and many nieces and nephews A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Reverend William Moeller and Reverend David Hinz will officiate. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery at Leaf Valley. Casket bearers include Harold Guenther, Roger Klug, James Zehner, Dennis Klug, Ewald Wussow and David Ziegelmann. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and also from 10:30 to 11:30 AM Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home.
