Edward J. Howard Ed was born on June 8, 1928 in Currie, MN, the son of Joseph and Marie Howard. He grew up loving to hunt and fish. After graduating from high school he saved money to attend college and become a veterinarian. Unfortunately the Korean conflict got in the way of that dream. Ed served in the Army's 7th Infantry Division, survived, and came back to Minnesota to start the Golden Valley Drive-in. The locals laughingly called it the "Gag and Vomit." In 1956, he met and married the love of his life, Charlotte Bradley. He became a Golden Valley police officer and later owned a successful archery business. Besides fishing and hunting, Ed loved to golf and bowl. He bowled a perfect game in Alexandria. He was proud of that, but more importantly, he enjoyed the friendship of his fellow bowlers. Ed also enjoyed his time at Miltona Golf course playing with and competing against many great guys. Ed died at his home with loved ones by his side on Sunday, November 14, 2010. He is survived by sons Bradley, Michael, (Becky) and daughter Julie (Brett) Anderson; grandchildren: Tim, Dan, Joshua, Lyndsey and Emily. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Memorial services were held on Thursday, November 18, 2010, 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with Rev. Fred Fink officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary?s Cemetery in Alexandria. Military Honors were by VFW Post 936, American Legion Post #87 and Minnesota National Guard Honors.
