Edward Aloysius Hurley Jr. was born on April 20, 1925 in Cleveland, OH to Edward Sr. and Angela (Holden) Hurley. He graduated the class of 1943from De LaSalle High School in Minneapolis. Edward joined the U.S. Army Air Corps from August 12, 1944 to October 13, 1945 and served as a 1st Lieutenant in WWII. He flew 44 missions as a B-24 Navigator Bombardier with the 15th Air Force 464 and 461 Bomb Groups. He went to the University of MN on the GI Bill and graduated with a BA in Business in 1949. Edward was united in marriage to Sandra Robinson on January 24, 1953. To this union the couple was blessed with two children, Patrick and Catherine. He worked as a traveling salesman with multiple companies then became an independent manufactures representative in the furniture business. Edward was a member of the fraternity Phi Kappa PSI, American Legion, VFW and a lifetime member with the 15th Air Force. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing tennis, and traveling. Edward died Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, Sandra of Alexandria; son, Patrick (Paula) Hurley of Alexandria; daughter, Catherine (Hurley) Hart of Arlington, VA; grandchildren, Meghan Hurley, Caitlin Hurley Peters, Scott Liddell, Alexandra Liddell, and Haley Hart. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Angela; and sister, Mary Ganglehoff. A memorial service will be held 10 AM on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at St. Therese Catholic Church on 18323 Minnetonka Blvd in Deephaven, MN. Inurnment will be held in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
