Eileen Holland

February 16, 1927 — June 7, 2016

Eileen Bernadine Holland, age 89 of Alexandria died June 7, 2016 at Douglas County Hospital with her family by her side.
Eileen was born in Echo, Minnesota. After graduating, she moved to Alexandria where she worked at the Alexandria Hotel as a desk clerk. She later attended Minnesota School of business. Eileen returned to Echo after her father died and was employed by the Citizens State Bank for over 30 years. Eileen enjoyed her family and many friends in Echo. She was busy with quilting parties, card parties and an occasional trip to the casino, where Eileen was nicknamed "luck box" as she most always came home with winnings. Her summers were spent at the Sebey cabin on Nest Lake in Spicer with her sister Mag and many relatives coming and going. Animals were blessed if they lost their home and found Eileen's especially cats. She was nicknamed "The Cat Lady" in Echo, and took good care of all.
After retirement and the loss of her home to fire, she moved to Alexandria and lived with her sister Rusty. Eileen moved to Bethel Manor in 2013 after the death of her sister.
Eileen will be missed by her family. She is survived by her daughter, Margo Kratzer (Randy); nieces, Mary Nicholson, Kathy Oppel-Overtoom (James), Beckie Conn (Dennis); nephews, Hollan Lommen, Paul Sebey; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and many great nieces and nephews. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Stanford and Josephine (Maakestad)Holland; a half -brother, Clifford Holland; four sisters, Magdalen Sebey, Avis Rey, June Oppel and Bernadine (Rusty) Lommen; nephew John Sebey; niece Andrienne Hjelle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to Lakes Area Humane Society 3811 Nevada St. SW, Alexandria MN 56308.
