Inez Eileen Carlquist was born in Dassel, Minnesota on February 19, 1931 to Albert and Marian Anderson. She attended Lake Geneva Bible Camp where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at age 11. She graduated from Evansville High School and attended North Park College and St. Cloud State where she received a Bachelor?s degree in Elementary Education. While teaching in Stewert, she met her husband Stanley Ordean Nelson. They were married on June 27, 1953 at the Palmyra Covenant Church of Hector, Minnesota. She taught school at various times in Hector and Bird Island, Minnesota. They later joined the Evangelical Free Church of Hector, Minnesota where she was very involved until she moved. Stan and Eileen had two girls, Rebecca and Carol. Eileen was a faithful wife and mother and spent most of her time in ministry to women and children. She was very involved in Christian Women?s Club, Free Church Women?s Ministry, started a Pioneer Girls Club, taught Sunday School, directed many Vacation Bible Schools, was a Youth Leader, pianist and choir member, Awana Leader, taught missionary children in Africa, led numerous women?s Bible Study groups, and served in any other area of need that involved and telling of the gospel of Jesus Christ to her world. She volunteered with Wycliffe Bible Translators with her daughter Carol and family for four years teaching missionary childrern. They spent two years in Dallas TX and two years in Nairobi, Kenya. She married Eugene Carlquist on December 29, 2001 and continued her involvement in ministry at First Baptist Church, Alexandria teaching women and children. She completed her last Bible study in October, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Ordean Nelson, two unborn children, parents Albert and Marian Anderson, in-laws Chester and Esther Nelson and sister-in-law Marcella (Erwin) Tietz. Inez Eileen Carlquist died on Wednesday December 26, 2008 at Kunte Nelson in Alexandria at the age of 77. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Carlquist of Nelson, two daughters, Rebecca (Tom)Heerdt of Chaska and Carol (Joe) Nelson of Bagley, ?adopted? missionary kid Jim Danielson, sisters Tassie Satterlie and Yvonne (Trueman) Holte and brother Bud (Ruth) Anderson all of Alexandria, grand children Dustin, Tyler, Sarah, Abigail, Caleb, and Gracie, step sister Irene (Alvin) Tvrdik, step daughter Pam (Cap) Engstrom of Alexandria, three step-grandchildren, Shawn (Dawn), Sara (Bill), and Shannon (Dustin), and four step-great-grand-children, nieces and nephews Vicki (Jeff) Foshaug, Karen (David) Holte, Doug (Celia) Holte, Cheryl (Larry) Schaeffer, Kristal (Todd) Cullen, Lori (Kenny) Schaeffer, Dan and Heidi Anderson, and nineteen grand nieces and nephews, and seven great-grand nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held on Monday, December 29, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Alexandria with the Pastor Darryl Knappen officiating. Interment was in the Hector City Cemetery. Casket Bearers were David Holte, Doug Holte, Daniel Anderson, Ken Schaeffer, Shawn Engstrom, and Bill Myron.
