OBITUARY
Elroy James Wussow was born on August 7, 1951 in Parkers Prairie, MN and is the son of Elroy Frank and Lucille June (Bast) Wussow. He grew up on a farm in Leaf Valley Township and was involved with FFA. He was baptized and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Leaf Valley, MN. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1970 and continued his education at Alexandria Vocational Technical School in the Productive Agriculture program and graduated in 1972.
Elroy was a very dedicated and hardworking man who farmed all of his life. He grew up on the family farm and helped his mother and father with daily chores and crops which started his love for the land and animals. He worked alongside his mother and father and siblings raising cattle, dairy cows, pigs, ducks and chickens until he purchased the farm with his brother Donavon in 1989. Elroy was a kind, loving, selfless, and thoughtful man who helped his family and neighbors when they needed a hand. Some of Elroy’s hobbies were ice fishing, gardening, and going to auctions. He will be dearly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
Elroy James Wussow died on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Knute Nelson nursing home in Alexandria, MN at 63 years of age. He is survived by his mother Lucille Wussow of Alexandria, MN; 10 siblings: DiAnn Plummer of Garfield, MN; Donavon Wussow of Alexandria, MN; Ewald Wussow of Alexandria, MN; Allan (Beth) Wussow of Alexandria, MN; June (Rick) Hart of Katy, TX; Linda (Kenneth) Gregory of Mesquite, TX; Brian Wussow of Garfield, MN; Lori (Craig) Hornberger of Alexandria, MN; John (Rondi) Wussow of Garfield, MN; and Dana Wussow with special friend Cody Isdahl of Alexandria, MN; 10 nieces and nephews: Edward “Lee” Madole of Garfield, MN; Shannon (Nathan) Himley of Brainerd, MN; Sara Wussow of Randall, MN; Courtney Brandsted of Alexandria, MN; Dominic Brandsted of Dickenson, ND; Justin (Stacee) Hart of New Braunfels, TX; Jason (Lisa) Hart of Katy, TX; Steph Wussow of Garfield, MN; Heidi Wussow of Garfield, MN; Andrew Hornberger of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Joshua Hornberger of Alexandria, MN; Michael Wussow of Garfield, MN; and Katie Wussow of Garfield, MN; niece-in-law Lisa Gregory of Addison, TX. He also had 8 great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather’s Otto Bast and Ewald Wussow; grandmother’s Theresa Bast and Olga Wussow; father Elroy Frank Wussow; infant sisters Katherine and Lisa Wussow; brother-in-law Ken Plummer and nephew Aaron Michael Gregory and many aunts and uncles.
The family of Elroy James Wussow would like to thank everyone who attended the celebration of his life.
A funeral service was held on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Leaf Valley, MN with Reverend Dennis Angland officiating. Kristi Wussow provided the music. Interment was in Ebenezer Lutheran Church Cemetery. Casket Bearers were Michael Wussow, Edward Lee Madole, Gary Bast, Greg Bast, Joel Dahlheimer and Roger Dittberner. Honorary Casket Bearers were Donavon Wussow, Ewald Wussow, Allan Wussow, Brian Wussow, and John Wussow.
