Emily Ray Parent was born on October 29, 1999, to David and Shannon (White) Parent in Fridley, Minnesota. In 2004, the family moved from Blaine to Alexandria. Emily enjoyed playing tennis and loved singing in the choir during high school. She was very studious and graduated from Alexandria High School in 2018 with honors.
After high school, Emily attended Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall for elementary education. Emily started working at Angelina’s which she referred as her “Angie’s family” while in high school and continued working there on weekends when she came back home. This past year she started working at Solutions as a behavioral interventionist with autistic children. She dedicated her life to helping autistic children and changed her degree to special education.
Emily accepted Christ at a young age she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus. She enjoyed spending time fishing with her Dad and shopping with her Mom and sisters, singing karaoke to anyone that would listen, camping, and playing board games. Emily always took an interest in what others were doing and loved helping people. She loved her family and friends and wanted to be near them. Emily will be remembered for her beautiful smile, contagious laugh and positive attitude. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Emily died of natural causes at Alomere Health in Alexandria at the age of 21. She is survived by her parents, David and Shannon Parent of Alexandria; sisters, Ashley White of Alexandria and Kayla Parent of Menahga; maternal grandmother, Patricia Struck of Chanhassen; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephew, Dawson and friends. Emily is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John and Ludmilla (Mille) Parent; and maternal grandfather, Charles White.
A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM on Friday, November 6, 2020, at the Alexandria Covenant Church in Alexandria. The service will be livestreamed at 1 PM on the http://alexandriacovenant.org/live-stream-event/ home page. See below in the services to click on the link. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at the Anderson Funeral Home. To protect the safety of all, masks, social distancing and building occupancies will be observed. Inurnment will be at Lake Ida Cemetery in Ida Township.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family and will be used to positively impact the lives of autistic children that Emily dedicated her life to helping.
